Ruling about hitting the wife on the face..

In the name of Allah the All Merciful, the Most Merciful, and peace be upon the messengers, and praise be to Allah the Lord of the worlds..

Surely we did not issue fatwa in slapping her on her face a painful slap Allah forbids; in fact we said: A light slap does not cause even redness to the face, and as that the condition is one slap only none other, surely she is his wife if he slapped her with justice, but it is not allowed for him to slap her with strength in order for the slap to affect (by leaving mark) on her face; just for insulting her with the slap in order for her to have manners so she would keep manners, but with a condition of one light slap and not painful to the face, so he does not hasten with his fingers except as much as two fingers on her cheek then here there is no chance for the palm a space to be a hard slap; but definitely it will be mild and without effect on the face. And if we issued fatwa in beating on their bodies then the mean husbands could be harming their wives in places that the woman can not uncover it even to her family, but the face is uncovered for if he had beaten her severely because Allah prohibited the husbands from harsh beating and it is the severe one which affects the body wherever it is, so this is forbidden for the believers and violation to Allah’s command, and only Allah permitted the light hitting that is not intense from the severity of the pain’s affect and this is forbidden on the believers; in fact, reprimanding is harder assault and effective on the heart, then the wife regrets on what she had done if you only knew.

And peace be upon the messengers, and praise be to Allah the Lord of the worlds..

حكم ضرب الزوجة على الوجه ..

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم، وسلامٌ على المرسلين والحمد لله ربّ العالمين، أمّا بعد..
فلم نُفْتِ بصفعها على وجهها صفعةً مؤلمةً حاشا لله؛ بل قلنا:

لطمةً خفيفةً لا تسبب حتى احمرار الوجه، وكذلك الشرط لطمةٌ واحدةٌ فقط لا غير، فهي زوجته إن لطمها بالحقّ ولكن لا يجوز له أن يلطمها بشدّة حتى تؤثر اللطمة على وجهها؛ بل ليهينها باللطمة كي تتأدّب فتلزم الأدب، ولكن بشرط لطمة خفيفة وليست مؤلمة للوجه، فلا يسرع ببنانه إلا على قدر بنانتين من خدها فهنا لم يبقَ للكف مجال مسافة لتكون اللطمة شديدة؛ بل حتماً ستكون خفيفة وغير مؤثرة على الوجه.

ولو أفتينا بضربهنَّ على أجسادهن فقد يؤذي زوجاتهم أزواجٌ لؤماءٌ بأماكن لا تستطيع المرأة كشفها حتى لأهلها، ولكن الوجه مكشوف لئن ضربها بشدة كون الله نهى الأزواج عن الضرب المبرِّح وهو الشديد الذي يؤثر على الجسد أينما يكون فهذا محرَّم على المؤمنين ومخالفة لأمر الله، وإنّما أذن الله بالضرب الخفيف غير المبرّح من شدة أثار الألم وهذا محرَّم على المؤمنين؛ وبل العتاب أشدُّ فتكاً وتأثيراً على القلب ثم تندم الزوجة على ما صنعت لو كنتم تعلمون.
